Esterri d’Àneu is the smallest municipality of the Valley, with 8.5 Km2, but it is the most populated.   Located to 957 meters of altitude above sea level, it is the geographical, social, commercial and cultural centre.

Its economy is based on the service sector, and the tourist supply is considerably important.

It also has a good infrastructure of services: School, Institute, Ecomuseum, School of Nature, Doctor's office, pharmacy, park of firemen, municipal library, municipal swimming pool, call to account of the third age, nursery, sport facilities, infantile parks, powerboat, service of taxis, line of regular transport to Barcelona and Lerida...

It celebrates the old celebration the 22th of January, dedicated to patron of the town: Saint Vicenç. And the summer celebration is the second Sunday of August. They are celebrated 4 fairs the year throughout and the weekly market is on Sunday.
